How do I say this...

I'm in love with my Canon.

Took some shots for Poupee and liked how the pics turn out =)

Night Cycling Photos

Photos taken by Ben and Jerome who brought along their DSLRs.

Went night cycling from 9.30 pm to 5 am.

A rough total of about 7 hours plus:

Started from East Coast Park, riding through Marine Parade for shaved ice dessert at Koi, Bugis (Haji Lane), prata place near Vivo for supper, Dempsey Hill, Orchard, Buat Quay and back to East Coast Park.

I lost 1 kg after waking up the next day =) and my butt is still sore.

Anyway, I just bought a new Canon EOS 500D digital camera.

One of the best cams in the market right now from the reviews, superb specs and personal experience.

Will post up awesome pics soon.

The Megapixels Race

"....you should not be fooled by the "more megapixels is better" mantra"- extracted from here.

This advice came in just in time!

I was seriously considering to purchase a Samsung Pixon in Pink because it has an 8 megapixel camera... and because it's pink.

Researched more on this phone about whether it takes good pictures and found out that it's good only for Macro shots, and sucks at taking landscape pics... Furthermore, being kiasu, I also thought of waiting for the next Samsung Pixon 12- 12 megapixels camera phone which will probably be available here in August.

I realised this: it doesn't mean that the higher the megapixels of the camera is, the nicer the photos will turn out :s Noise will still be a problem  if the right settings are not used.

I'm a dummy when it comes to photography and photog terms such as ISO speed, Aperture, Image sensor size, etc, but it's something I'm keen on learning about. Thus my exploration leads me to the tutorials on Photoxels.com (I've linked some of their articles to the terms).

It even got me to explore the settings of my current Kodak 6.1 megapixels cam even further and made some trial shots using different settings.

Taken with ISO 800, lowered the image size to 1.8MP.
Notice there are more details and noise in the shadow area at the top rows of the keyboard.

Taken at ISO 80, 6MP image size.
Less noise and darker shadows.

Changed the light balance setting to fluorescent and it gives a bluish tint and cooler temperature.

The camera also has settings of Burst, Exposure Metering, AF Control (Still) and Focus Zone- all I have never bothered to explore previously. I simply depended on the Auto mode all the time and wondered why my pictures suck and needed lotsa photoshopping =x

Just a lil more finger work and buttons do make a lot of difference.

Luge Movable Fun Card for my Bf

Card Interactive

Made this card for my bf, edited the pics taken during my 21st birthday when we went to play the Luge for the card. It was a really memorable and happy day for us.

I'm bad at animated gifs and didn't use a tripod to take the pics so it's a lil uneven.

But the idea is that when the lever with the heart is moved, so will our heads =)

The simple mechanisms of paper engineering are self taught when i did an interactive children's book for my school project a few months ago... It's so hard to find the secret of the mechanisms online and the library doesn't have any books on it except for pop up mechanisms. I learnt mechanisms of transformation/metamorphosis, pull-tabs (the one used for the card) and diffusion. My interest in paper engineering just grew as I did the project.

Here is the cover design and character design for the book by me.

I'm kinda in the process of going about learning if it's possible to publish it.. slowly ... not much progress cos I'm not very motivated now.

Decided to upload some of my charcoal artworks done in class. Portraits of people (our live models), still life drawing. Decided to spice up the one below into a mermaid =) Something different my teacher seemed to like.

Will miss foundation year classes... sigh.
